The Ying Yang Twins are an Atlanta-based crunk rap duo consisting of Kaine (born Eric Jackson on December 16, 1978) and D-Roc (born D'Angelo Holmes on February 13, 1979). Despite their name, they are not related. The artists can frequently be heard yelling "hahn" on many of their tracks, and even have a complete song, "Hahn!," dedicated to their catchphrase.
They first came to notice in 2000 with the single, "Whistle While You Twurk," which got play on urban and pop radio stations, and peaked at #16 on the US R&B/Hip-Hop chart. Their full-length debut album, Thug Walkin', came out later that year. Their next album, Alley: The Return of the Ying Yang Twins (2002) sold quite well, but they didn't really achieve popularity until they collaborated with the "king of crunk" Lil Jon in 2002 for "Get Low." The party anthem was a huge club and radio hit and soon got the duo a deal with TVT Records.
The first album for the label, Me & My Brother, yielded two more hits — "What's Happnin!" and "Naggin'." The same year the duo appeared on Britney Spears' album In the Zone and her television special of the same name. In 2004, TVT released the remix-filled My Brother & Me with a bonus DVD of the group's videos. An album, U.S.A. (United State of Atlanta) appeared in the summer of 2005 as its singles "Wait (The Whisper Song)", "Badd," and "Shake" were dominating urban radio. U.S.A. (Still United), a collection of outtakes, remixes, and collaborations also appeared.
The Ying Yang Twins were also featured on Lil Jon's breakout single Get Low that helped catapult him to fame in 2003-2004.
Their anticipated fourth studio album entitled Chemically Imbalanced is slated to be released in November of 2006.
Richard Cheese and Lounge Against the Machine covered "Badd" on their 2006 album "The Sunny Side of the Moon: The Best of Richard Cheese".
